The Hunter – 3

Monday, August 6th, 2012

In the center of it all, lay a massive raised tent, elevated higher than any of the tents before it. The gigantic structure of cloth seemed like a fortress compared to the tiny encampments that dotted the landscape. Only one entrance lay facing the hooded man, guarded by several ranks of soldiers. The security seemed extreme, but only to a wary observer. At a time of war, this was the norm.

The Hunter – 2

The mud smeared against his face as the hunter lay in the mud. Up ahead, the silhouettes of guardsman bobbed along the horizon. As the sun began to rise, the red light began to illuminate the rest of the battlefield. Up ahead, the silhouettes were now resembling men. Now that the hooded man could see them clearly, he noticed the red emblem across their armour. It seems that the battle that took place was won by the empire. Looking at the losses, it would only be several more days before the rebellion was fully quelled.

The man didn’t understand the meaning of war. Why would soldiers fight and kill and pillage for the freedom from their means? The fighting only caused more pain, and people like him became involved for their own reasons. Soon it would all boil down to revenge, blame, and persecution. Because the winning side decides who was wrong in the first place, there is never room for change.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

The padded soft sound of running on ground was the only noise during the night.

Rapidly, a hooded man darted through the woods. From one tree to another, the man wove through the maze of the forest. Typically, a traveller would have to be wary of dangerous animals at this time, but by now, most of the animals of the forest slept, and even the most nocturnal of predators lay dormant. At that moment, the world of nature was a quiet as it could be. Even so, the man left no trail of his existence. No branches broken, no dirt kicked, no leaves scattered. It was a precaution that was unneeded, but the character of the hooded man hardly thought otherwise. The man knew the layout of the forest, but his movements were no longer conscious. His abilities were that of a beast of the forest, a descent into the primal urge of man.

Chap. 2

Authors Note:

I’ve been writing this for a while, and it’s quite long. But I’m far from finished.
I feel like I accomplished a lot when I wrote this chapter, because it’s hard to describe this day. I had it all written down on a rough draft, but when it came to putting it down into words, I couldn’t write. It was just coming out all wrong, it didn’t make what I wanted the impression to be.
But after going through my subconscious dictionary, I finally came up with this.
Enjoy!

Heroes

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

I’m sick and tired of all these very old marvel characters, they’re just everywhere. The hulk, Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, or even just Wonder Woman. A lot of them end up with -man or -woman.
And the problem is I have a problem getting a break from them. They’re everywhere! T-Shirts, TV, Halloween, Toys, Christmas Presents, Beach Towels, especially internet!

I would even like to know the author instead of the character!

Maybe if they created a new set of heroes, like a normal person with non-average abilities! Then that would be a hit!
Maybe just a man with talents but they aren’t extraordinary like Superman. Maybe even an average policeman! Something like that I can enjoy because I’m really on the edge of my seat because I know he can actually die.
Or someone disabled who can fight crime.
Or maybe even a story of an average life of a soldier!

These things could make wonderful stories… it’s just that people who create comics don’t realize that, and often racking their brains for another superhero. Why can’t they just use people who exist now? Why does everything have to be unrealistic?

Maybe later in the future… maybe later.

The Recruit

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Well, I guess I’m going to practice for one of my upcoming book talks. It’s when you sort of sell a book to the class. Tell about the good things, talk about the bad. Well, maybe not the bad part, it really doesn’t help the part about selling.
Well, this book is called The Recruit. It’s a book of the series created by Robert Muchamore.
It’s basically about a boy in a secret agency called CHERUB. The best part of it, is that adults never suspect kids are spying on them. And what’s more, You’ll wish it was all true.
I started reading this about a few weeks ago.
I just got absorbed into it. It was just that good.
So, in the book, the main character, James, starts off in a normal life. School, bullies, and all that. After he makes a HUGE mistake, and accidentally hurts another schoolmate, his whole life starts going upside down.
His mom was found dead, who had accidentally gotten drunk after his doctor told her of her ulcer in her leg. She dead painlessly, at least.
Well, now as an orphan. He was eligible for recruitment. It was only capable after he had no parents. He gets moved into a foster sort of “hotel” and goes to school and stuff there.
But then he meets a recruitment officer.

His life will not be the same.

Ever.
