Today I am very tired. I got up at 5:30 this morning (after barely sleeping last night; amazing what a bit of concern about how much you *really* know will keep you awake) to drive to Bellevue and tell our new DBA’s everything I know. Left the house at 6:00 and arrived in Seatlle at 10:20. I also love Seattle traffic. I don’t mind a Grand Prix (my rental car) but it drives nowhere near as sporty as it looks…
I ended up talking for 6 hours straight. After being worried about not having enough to talk about, we only got through 2 slides, this is going to take more than two days to hand off. I’m hoping to be home by 7:00 Friday night because I have a video to catch (“Little Miss Sunshine”?)
I got into the hotel room, and unpacked; knowing that I had travelled light. Very light. I do wonder though, do men and women pack differently? I brought only the bare essentials: 2 cell phones, 2 laptops, a camera, 3 lenses, an external drive (for pictures), and one change of clothes.
I’m sure Paris Hilton would have done the same.
P.S. I’m sorry if this is not the most lucid post I have ever made; did I mention I’m really tired?
Well, It’s been a while, and I’ve not been talking about things.
Well, about a week ago, something happened. An incident in YVR. Unfortunately, the news is eating this up like a fly in a pile of manure. Seeing how much publicity this has made, I would be surprised if the family hasn’t go time to grieve alone.
By now, most people have seen the video — taken at Vancouver International Airport on Oct. 14 — that shows Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski’s final minutes.
Dziekanski died after being Tasered by police in what, to the casual observer, appears to be an overuse of force.
Seriously, I saw this video. It seemed very vicious. I have my own opinions, but if you want to see it, go to Youtube.com and search it yourself. I don’t like sending the link. I feel its wrong for some reason…
But if you don’t want to see this, just take my opinion. It was very, very abusive of their powers. I didn’t enjoy the sight.
A new company is moving into the empty office space on our floor (empty since it was vacated by BC Rail), and we’ve been speculating on what kind of company it was. I quipped “well, they have the most expensive real estate on the floor, I’ve seen guys in suits, and I only see people in there about 2 hours a day, it must be government”.
The signs have gone up … turns out I was right.
This muffin was sitting on my office desk last Thursday morning while I was juggling between projects. On the bag it writes, “Happy Thursday!”. I asked around who gave me this sweet gift, no none told me who. I split the muffin to 5 pieces and shared them with people in the office. That day, 5 people recieved this gift. Now I share this with you.
Thanks to the one who made last thursday so sweet and remeberable for us!
Well, you know when parents just talk about work at the dinner table? (more…)
Have you ever wondered what Tea + Coffee would taste like? Guess what, I made one today and I can tell you right away it’s not bad at all.
I cut down my coffee intake from several cups to one cup recently. Normally I don’t drink coffee in the afternoon. During an ordinary day, I only drink coffee, tea or water. I’m not big fun of pops or juices even though there are plenty of them in the kitchen. I found those drinks are too sweet for my teeth (Tim can’t bear the thougths that I don’t take any advantage of available cokes ). So after one cup of coffee in the morning, the rest of day, my drinks would be either water or tea. Pretty boring, eh?! (more…)

Jeff C. left my company a month ago. His family have decided to move back to Taiwan. They have some family business there needs to be taken care of. So in the past month, Jeff has been working on packing while renovating the house for sale. Apparently he has done some amazing job for his garden – He sent me the photos yesterday.
Before
I came into my office this morning and discovered a little chocolate egg sitting in my chair. I suddenly realized that the office bunny had visited my cubicle on the weekend
Every year, our ‘Easter Bunny’ hides eggs for us in our cubicles. We hunt eggs after back from the holiday. So far, nobody knows for sure who is the Bunny. We have been suspecting our office manager. However she always denies it whenever asked.
I searched around my desk and it didn’ t take me long to find the other 3 eggs — one behind my monitor, one in my coffee mug and one sitting beside my fuzzy birds. I collected all my trophies and placed them in front of my keyboard. Then, I pulled out my camera and bent down to shoot photos for my victory. After I finished, I stood up and spotted the fifth egg! It was cleverly hidden in a toy standing on the top of my book shelf! The color was so well blended in with the surroundings that I almost missed it!
For the next half hour, I carefully searched every inch of my desk and the book shelf hoping the sixth egg would show up — however no more eggs turned out.
Have I found all eggs? Would some eggs turn up 6 months later? I guess time will tell the story.
