Food Etiquette and Cars

Monday, August 25th, 2008

By Sheena (I had to steal Mommy’s password)

1.  When you get it the car twirl around Mommy’s neck 3 times.

2.  After twirling sit on her shoulder (remind you of Tilley?)

3.  Growl at all cows as long as you are in the car.

4.  If Max has it, I want it.

5.  If Tasha has it, forget it!

6.  What’s a Punky?

Challenge Accepted

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

I accept your challenge.  I will try and post more but you sure haven’t given us much time to  catch up - just a little less than a week.  And I will be back at school most of next week getting a French Immersion class ready.  Then the odds are further stacked due to the fact that we have company arriving to spend the weekend with us.  I think Max may start posting advice to Punky on how to deal with Sheena.  He seems to have her trained to harrass Tasha and when the 2 of them start squabbling he heads for my lap.  If Ling likes lasagna that much I’ll see what we can arrange for the weekend.

Just got an e-mail through from Chapters that the 3rd book in the Eragon trilogy will be released on Sept. 20.  I know a lot of us have been waiting for this (including Tim) and I believe I’m going to pre-order my copy.  If I start a business in 100 Mile it will be a bookstore as we don’t have one here.

Only In the Cariboo, Pity….

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

I’ve lived in friendly places before, but I have to admit that here in the Cariboo has everyone else beat.  It doesn’t matter where we go, everyone welcomes us with open arms.  For example, I called a doctor’s office for an appointment, started to explain that we were new and the receptionist says, “Well, you’ve chosen a lovely place to live, welcome.”  Cable, the local store, the gas station it’s all the same.  I love it!

Further to the traffic jam problems, we had to slow down this morning because 3 deer were crossing the road.  I’m still waiting for my first bear sighting but that will come.  Apparently there was one at the golf course which left us wondering what would happen if you bounced your golf ball off one?  Would you be able to play it where it was if you knocked the bear out or would you have to take a penalty?

Coffee, Anyone?

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

Time to finally start talking about our trip to England and Scotland.  I’ve worked hard to kick the coffee habit but that first cup in the morning is still a precious thing.  So you have to imagine me bleary-eyed and jet lagged (we had slept for about 15 hours with a 2 a.m. raid on the 24 hr. food store) looking at the menu at the muffin shop.  There were lattes, cappucinos, espressos and other items I didn’t recognize.  Add to that an Asian waiter with his own accent and an English accent over top and I could hardly understand him.  So I decided that a latte would be the way to start the morning.  Next morning we went to the local pub for breakfast, I went to the bar to order coffee and the guy said, “Oh, you want a latte”.  Okay, so it was good and I can’t face beer with breakfast.  Morning 3 I am determined to get an ordinary coffee with cream no sugar.  I ask, “What do I need to order to get a coffee with cream?”  The helpful lady tells me to order a coffee with cream.  In great anticipation – not to mention drooling- I do.  And…..she very nicely made a latte and put whipping cream on it!  I now know that what I wanted was a filtered coffee, white not black.  I love learning foreign languages.

Part of the Modern Age

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

At last I’m here and have felt the need to post a message!  It’s been a real roller coaster ride the last few weeks trying to decide whether to move back to B.C. or stay here.  With Geoffrey coming to live with us staying in Grande Prairie is actually the easiest move.  At least I’ve been offered a job for next year – special ed. back at the high school.  So I guess we stay for a while longer.
